Mike began his YMCA career in Oklahoma City as a Sport/Aquatics Director. He spent 4 years in that position and was named Executive Director of that branch in 1998. He served in that capacity until accepting the responsibility of Executive Director of the West YMCA in 2001. Mike became the Executive Director of the DeVore South YMCA in April of 2010. He has a degree in Physical Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
Jami began her YMCA career as a Membership Associate at the North YMCA, where she spent four out of the six years as a Manager on Duty, before accepting the position of Membership Director at the South YMCA in October of 2009. She was a student at WSU and Kansas State University, where she studied biology.
Starburst holds a BS in Health and Human Performance along with an MS in Health and Human Performance, both from Fort Hays State University. She has been with the YMCA since May 2008, spending her first year as a Healthy Lifestyle Coach at Hawker Beechcraft. She holds certifications as ACSM Health Fitness Specialist along with YMCA Strength and Conditioning and Healthy Lifestyle Principles.
Denise holds a B.S in Administration of Justice from Wichita State University. She has taught dance for several years and has trained several organizations in dance technique, choreography and group motivation. She has been a member of the Y for several years and has been a YMCA Fitness Instructor since 2008. Denise has multiple fitness certifications and has group exercise experience in instructing, recruiting and mentoring, which she has put into practice since joining the South YMCA staff in August 2009.
Samantha has been with the South YMCA since 2007, beginning in the gymnastics and cheer programs, prior to accepting the director position in January 2011. She competed in both gymnastics and cheer for multiple years. Sam holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship at Wichita State University.
James has been with the South YMCA since May of 2000 as a head lifeguard and swim instructor and took over as Aquatics Director in February of 2007. He has received his Associates in Business Administration from Butler Community College. James is certified as a YMCA lifeguard, YMCA lifeguard instructor, and YMCA swim instructor.
Catherine graduated in December 2008 from Wichita State University, earning her MA in Sports Administration. Catherine began working for the YMCA in June 2007 as a Site Supervisor at the Farha Sport Center. She joined the West YMCA in November 2009 as the Sports Coordinator, before coming back to work as the Sports Director at the South YMCA & Farha Sport Center in January 2011.
Kayla holds a BS in Sport Management with a minor in Sociology from Wichita State University. She has held internships with the Wichita Wingnuts, Kansas Women’s Golf Association, Derby Recreation Commission, and the Farha Sport Center at South YMCA. Kayla joined the South YMCA & Farha Sport Center as Sports Director in October 2011.
