The Greater Wichita YMCA has proudly served this community for 135 years - navigating many challenges together. COVID-19 is no different. We've all made sacrifices and had to find new ways to work, stay in touch, and protect public health. Our doors are temporarily closed but we've maintained our mission and commitments and served through:
- 100+ workouts, programs, and activities all FREE for all through our Virtual YMCA
- Phone calls and web chats with our older members and health-vulnerable participants
- Social media community building including live events, tutorials, and shared "Y stories"
These non-traditional services clarify that the Y isn't a "gym" or a "place" - it is a community. We bring people together, we empower healthy lifestyles and youth development, and we know we have a social responsibility to protect public health and provide access for all. Our Strong Community Fund helps 300,000+ Southcentral Kansas annually and we anticipate higher-than-ever demand for physical and social activities but we're ready to serve including:
Income-based and "bridge" memberships reduce and eliminate member costs - ensuring all kids and families have access to social and physical activity.
Area kids have been at home for months without structured activities - our financial assistance lowers/eliminates the cost of sports, camp, and more.
We have dozens of low-/no-cost community programs - including cooking, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, and SPLASH - that help bring people together.
HELP US SERVE. HELP US DO MORE.
If you are able, we would welcome a donation to our Strong Community Campaign. A donation of $52 (or more) will allow a child to play a sport for free, will enroll a family in nutrition classes, will keep camp affordable for every kid, and let our LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program serve those battling cancer - and more.
MAKING HEALTHY CONNECTIONS
