As a nonprofit organization, the Greater Wichita YMCA has - since 1885 - sought to put our mission to work to improve the lives of our neighbors and improve the community and those we serve.
The Y serves 300,000+ neighbors (including 180,000+ members) through ten branches, four water parks, three sports centers, 1,000+ employees, 800+ weekly group exercise classes, and hundreds of programs including organized sports, education, empowerment, and support in Andover, El Dorado, Newton, and Wichita and throughout South Central Kansas including Butler, Harvey, and Sedgwick Counties.
The Y is also the region's largest provider of swimming lessons, child care, before and after school support, and summer programs and is the area's largest single resource for health and wellness and all services are free or offer ability-to-pay-based pricing.
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong families, and positive youth development to build healthy spirit, mind and body for all, regardless of ability to pay.
A BETTER COMMUNITY
We know happy, healthier, more engaged people - at every age and position in life - make for a better community. We know that a better "me" makes a better "us".
THREE AREAS OF FOCUS
The Greater Wichita YMCA, to live our mission, has three areas of focus that guide our programs and helps us make the greatest possible impact.

FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
We know that we cannot be all things to all people but we know we can support all in one or more ways - including through partnerships and good citizenry. To that end, we exercise our social responsibility in a number of ways that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- COOPERATIVE AGENCIES - We partner with 60+ other local and regional nonprofits on referrals, shared initiatives, and strategic development of programs
- COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS - We collaborate with government agencies, nonprofit and community service groups, churches, schools, and other groups
- HEALTH AND WELLNESS COALITION OF WICHITA - We are the founding organization of this important, region-wide group that promotes better living
- YOUTH AND FAMILY PROGRAMS - We offer support for teen parents and dozens of classes, activities, and programs for family time and parental respite
We also hold a Coat Drive and We Care Thanksgiving Dinner each year and have recently launched our Y Takeover series that will take our fitness programs off-site. Learn more about some of our social responsibility initiatives with the links above and tiles below:
