Limelight Coaches

Hydi Diaz: Dance Director, Limelight Head Coach

Hydi grew up in Jackson, Missouri where she began dancing at the age of three. She has studied various forms of dance including: ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, pointe, modern, lyrical, and musical theatre. Hydi started competing at the age of ten, both regionally and nationally. She received numerous national titles and accolades. Hydi attended many ballet intensives every summer and was selected to be a member of State Ballet in Missouri. She performed in many performances of “The Nutcracker” throughout her dancing years and got to perform with many prestigious ballet companies. Hydi has been teaching dance since 1999. After high school, she attended Lindenwood University and was a dance major. While at Lindenwood, her choreography was showcased in the universities dance concerts. Hydi was also on her high school cheer squad all 4 years and was named captain her senior year. She was selected for the All-American award through NCA all 4 years of high school. She has choreographed many routines for her school’s cheer team and dance team. Hydi was also the choreographer for many area high school musicals including: Annie, The Music Man, 42nd Street, and The Wizard of Oz. Hydi has been with the Northwest YMCA since 2007. In 2008, Hydi began the competitive dance team, Limelight Dance Company, and the competitive cheer team, Storm Cheer. She has coached these teams with great success. Both teams have won numerous National titles and judge’s awards. Hydi has two sons, Tristan and Tobin.

Chelsea Adams: Limelight Assistant Coach

Chelsea began dancing at the age of three and began teaching dance in 2003. She has studied mainly in ballet, jazz, hip hop and Irish. In high school, Chelsea was selected as a NDA All American. She danced at Barton County Community College where she was the captain her freshman and sophomore years. While at Barton, Chelsea was selected to be on NDA Staff and taught camps for them for 3 years. She has also taught for the Argonne All Stars and took them on to win a national championship. Chelsea has been teaching and choreographing for Limelight Dance Company since 2012.
