KEY ACADEMY

KEY Academy Enrollment is COMING SOON.

Interested parents/guardians should complete ONLINE KDHE forms and watch for update emails.

The Greater Wichita YMCA's KEY Academy program is run by the Y but hosted in area elementary schools through partnerships with host districts. Our KEY Academy programs provide Knowledge, Enrichment, and Youth Development to all participants in a comfortable, known environment.

KEY Academy offers affordable, KDHE-licensed, high quality, child care in a setting that combines educational, physical, and social activities that help develop the whole child. Our host sites, in schools, allow parents/guardians easy drop-off/pick-up and allow students to get homework support and to participate in a variety of seasonal and changing programs and activities that extend their learning. The program also offers a nutritious breakfast to morning participants and a healthy snack for afternoon participants.

The information below is intended to provide an outline of program sites, content, and costs, required paperwork required for enrollment, useful information about our other licensed child care programs, and ways to contact our staff for additional support.

ADDITIONAL KEY ACADEMY INFORMATION

WHY CHOOSE KEY ACADEMY FOR YOUR CHILD?

KEY Academy is an ideal compliment to the school day for students, K-5. Held in schools - parents/guardians can modify their drop-off/pick-up times without adding a stop to morning and evening routines and children can be in a known, comfortable environment. Our staff - trained and lead by certified staff - extend the school day with learning, games, activities, and fun and can provide homework support allowing families to enjoy their evenings together.

WHAT WILL YOUR CHILD GAIN THROUGH KEY ACADEMY PARTICIPATION?

Children who participate in KEY Academy will have additional time with peers for building relationships and social and physical activities. They will also receive homework and learning support from trained staff with access to additional in-school resources when appropriate and will participate in activities and programs - that change throughout the year - to keep them engage and excited.

HOW WILL COVID-19 IMPACT KEY ACADEMY PROGRAMS?

We have delayed the launch of KEY Academy enrollment while we work with school districts to formalize calendars and plans.  We will not start our KEY Academy programs until schools open and we know we can safely, successfully execute the program. We are following state-, regional-, and local mandates, guidance, and decisions and working with partner school districts to discuss options.

We strongly suggest all interested parents/guardians complete ONLINE KDHE-PAPERWORK now to start enrollment and let us know you are interested. We will update our website content and email directly with enrolled families as additional details become available.

WHEN WILL YOU LAUNCH KEY ACADEMY ENROLLMENT?

Still to-be-determined (as of Mon. 7/27) but we will initiate enrollment in each district as school details are confirmed.

We strongly suggest all interested parents/guardians complete ONLINE KDHE-PAPERWORK now to start enrollment and let us know you are interested. We will update our website content and email directly with enrolled families as additional details become available.

DOES MY CHILD HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN KEY ACADEMY TO PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL DAY(S) OUT AND/OR BREAK CLUB?

No. While priority at some schools is given to KEY Academy participants who want to enroll in School Day(s) Out - participation is not required. Break Clubs are entirely distinct from KEY Academy with the exception of paperwork.
