Kerry House
When Kerry House started a membership at the North YMCA, she was at her lowest, due to a degenerative disease that has taken her vision and other health related issues.
According to Kerri, "The gym is intimidating, but having someone guide you takes the intimidation out of training. After nine weeks, my cholesterol dropped 70 points, and my blood pressure went from the high 200s to 124 over 74."
Kerry has embraced all that the YMCA has to offer on the fitness floor and outside of it. She's worked Madison, a personal trainer at the North YMCA, and is an active member in group exercise classes such as water, Pilates, barre and yoga.
She has pushed our group exercise instructors to be better at cuing and technical explanation.
She applauds the YMCA for never treating her as less than or giving her special treatment because of her vision. The YMCA makes her feel good about herself, and she’s left the low points far behind her.
