Megan Toldi and Miklos
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
October 1, 2026
When Miklos first started coming to Mom’s Day Out at the Northwest YMCA, he was really nervous. He didn’t want to separate from me.
I was nervous and apprehensive, too, about Miklos participating because he’s never been away from me, and he’s hard of hearing. He uses American Sign Language for a good part of his communication.
I spoke with the program director and met with Miss Reese beforehand. Knowing that they were willing to learn some signs to help him understand what was going on in the classroom and facilitate his communication, made our family feel connected to the staff and the facility. We knew he would be in good hands.
He loves making the crafts every week. I love that he has been able to make friends.
