Paula and Kevin

Not too long ago, Paula and Kevin*, a local couple with a two-year-old son (single-income household) came to the YMCA with the hope they could somehow find a way to join.

This was included in their application:

“A YMCA membership would benefit my family by helping us to stay healthy and connected to our community. I have a difficult time staying consistent with exercise when I don't have a designated place and time to do so. I do what I can at home but can be much more consistent with a group fitness schedule. Consistency for me also means consistency for my family. My job is very flexible with hours, so we don't have a very solid schedule, which can be taxing on all of us at times (and, of course, very helpful at others). I notice that we thrive more when we have things in our lives that give us a stronger routine. That is the primary benefit: healthy consistency, one that aids in the physical health and lifestyle health of our family.”

Because of the generosity of our donors to ensure all individuals and families, regardless of income, can take part in YMCA programs and services that benefit the mind, body and spirit, Paula and Kevin got their wish and are now YMCA members.
