Robbie Hanks
When the world paused for a pandemic in 2020, many routines were disrupted, motivation wavered, and uncertainty made even simple habits feel difficult to maintain. But for Robbie Hanks, that moment became the beginning of something remarkable.
Instead of stepping back, Robbie made a personal commitment: walk one mile every single day.
And he’s kept that promise for over 2,277 consecutive days.
Not occasionally. Not when it was convenient. Every single day. Rain or shine.
When the El Dorado YMCA doors are open — and even when they aren’t.
Even while traveling, he finds a way to stay consistent.
Robbie’s journey is rooted in something deeply persona l— his health, his future and his “why.”
“My motivation comes from feeling better and having better health. Keeping my A1c down is a must,” Robbie said. “Another motivator is all the employees at the Y — they’re like one big family, which allows me to be in a comfort zone. I’ve acquired quite a few YMCA 360 reward points in the app, and that has become just an added bonus.”
He’s earned over 7,000 YMCA 360 rewards points to date and, more importantly, a stronger sense of health, consistency and belonging.
At the Y, we see that kind of commitment every day in different forms — but 1,929 straight days stands as something truly extraordinary.
