Todd Farha and Ronn McMahon

“Your greatest achievement will always be your life’s story.” – Bestselling author, consultant and two-time TEDx speaker Michael Margolis

More than a motivational phrase, these words speak to the heart of so many Greater Wichita YMCA supporters, especially longtime advocate and board member Todd Farha.

Todd’s connection with the Y came at the very beginning of his story – his uncle, William Farha, and father/Andover YMCA namesake, Dr. S. Jim Farha, were both huge believers in the Y’s mission, and their enthusiasm easily rubbed off on him growing up. And while he’s aware his personal journey is far from finished, Todd knows for certain that the Greater Wichita YMCA will be a significant part of the legacy he leaves behind for the community.

“The YMCA helps children and families, and it makes Wichita a special place. The Y is, in my opinion, one of the most important charities in Wichita, if not ‘the’ most important,” he said. “I’ve been blessed to have a long family history of engagement with the Y, and it just seemed natural that the Y would be first and foremost in my planned giving.”

The trust that the Y has built with Todd and his family over the years is the reason he’s confident in his decision – one that will allow for the continuation of free or reduced cost services long after his lifetime for kids who need to learn how to swim, get prepared for their first jobs and focus on making positive life choices.

His confidence was further solidified through the estate planning assistance he received through the newly formed YMCA Heritage Club, which includes one-on-one meetings at no cost with Estate Planner and Major Gifts Consultant John Griffin from Stewardship Counseling. The compassionate gifts of Heritage Club members are intended to be the foundation of a strong endowment capable of generating lasting support the the Y.

That endowment is already taking shape thanks to a substantial gift from Todd that he hopes will inspire others to do the same.

In his own words: “I would tell anyone, if they care about Wichita and want a strong community with help for families and kids, the Y is the place to give.”

The YMCA Heritage Club honors friends of the Y and their commitment to sustaining and strengthening our mission through planned giving. Heritage Club resources are available to all those who are interested by calling 620-327-5142 or emailing stewardshipcounselingllc@gmail.com
