We are fortunate to have many volunteers in our branches, programs and helping with our campaign every day. The Greater Wichita YMCA would not be able to fulfill its mission without the selfless dedication of all of its volunteers. With a mission to serve all regardless of the ability to pay, the Greater Wichita YMCA has a great need to fill. Each year staff and volunteers join together to help fulfill that mission by participating in the annual campaign called the Strong Community Campaign. Our volunteers continually support us by successfully raising much needed funds in order to meet our campaign goals. Coach of the Year
The Greater Wichita YMCA is the largest organized sports provider in the region with kids engaging in sports through the Y 25,000 times each year. This means that we rely on hundreds of volunteer coaches to make a successful experience for the kids in our programs. The following volunteer coaches were nominated by each branch due to their unwavering dedication and exemplary acts of service.

John Wiemers, Sports Director
John has been the Sports Director for the Andover YMCA since January 2022. He has been an enthusiastic coach for the YMCA for many years and was even honored as the Coach of the Year for 2020! You can find John out on the turf fields or on the basketball courts supporting our youth sport programs.
