Jr. Chef Cooking Classes at Wichita YMCA

Junior Chef Academy (Ages 6-12)

At the Greater Wichita YMCA, we teach kids to find their way around a kitchen and to make good food choices in a fun, hands-on setting. They gain much more than cooking skills from the experience. Children who learn healthy habits at an early age, grow up to be happy and active adults.

75 minute class/10 weeks.

Level 1: Build basic culinary skills, incorporating nutrition and fun food experiments.

Includes: chef hat, apron, progress reports and a kid-prepared recipe showcase at the end of the session.

Level 2: Build on culinary skills from level 1 with new weekly concepts and recipes to make and taste.

  • Open to members and non-members
  • Financial assistance available

Fees: Members: $48/month for 3 months via bank draft, or $144 total (member rate) for the 10-week Academy.

Non-Members: $78/month for 3 months via bank draft, or $234 total (non-member rate) for the 10-week Academy.
