Child Care Centers

Children absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. The Greater Wichita YMCA believes the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success.

Our KDHE-licensed YMCA child care programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of young children. We offer two settings for full-day, early education centers:

Child Development Centers (CDCs)
Are inside seven Wichita Public Schools (USD 259) High Schools
Early Learning Centers (ELCs)
Are inside Andover, East, and South Y Branches

Both environments offer:

  • Daily coverage, up to ten hours/day, based on school calendar (CDCs) and excluding major holidays and staff/professional development days (ELCs)
  • Nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for all participants daily
  • Kansas Early Learning Standards-based curriculum and program elements with trained staff and certified program leadership
  • Access to additional programs and activities for children and parents/guardians
  • Income-based pricing with grant funding available for those who qualify (Early Childhood Block Grants, Strong Community Campaign, etc.) available
  • All licensed programs accept DCF Child Care Assistance funds through the state of Kansas

Children served in either environment become school-ready - academically and socially - and will learn how to be their best selves as children and students in the short term and for their lives ahead.
