Todd Tangeman
When you meet Todd Tangeman, COO/Chief Human Resources Officer at Newton Medical Center, one thing becomes clear right away: his sincerity is real, and his commitment runs deep.
He isn't one to just talk the talk; he cares deeply about the mission of the Greater Wichita YMCA and leads by example as Chair of the Y's Metropolitan Board of Directors. Most recently, Todd was recognized for his outstanding service to the Y with the Metro Branch’s 2025 Volunteer of the Year Award.
“Todd has been a true champion for the Y's core purpose: to put the mission front and center in everything we do,” his nomination stated. “He has devoted countless hours in meetings, offering insights and thoughtful guidance on key strategic decisions concerning the direction, future and sustainability of the Y. His ability to think both strategically and practically has been invaluable in ensuring the Y’s long-term success and continued impact.”
Todd’s connection with the YMCA began with the Newton Y branch, first helping to raise funds for its construction and later serving on its Advisory Board. While speaking at the Y’s 2025 Annual Celebration, he reflected on that momentous experience.
“Several years ago, NMC along with others in our community partnered with the Y to bring a branch to Newton. We knew the Y was a good thing and could bring value and enrich life experiences in our community – and that has proven to be true,” he said. “The YMCA has added value and made a positive impact in Newton, just as it does in every community it serves.”
Ensuring that every single person in our region can benefit from the Y's programs and services and be healthy in mind, body and spirit is something that drives Todd to work harder every day. He never fails to generously lend his time and talents to further the Y mission.
“I said yes to the invitations to serve because I saw a chance to use my skills, meet other community leaders, and represent NMC Health in both Newton and Wichita,” he said in a recent NMC blog post that highlighted his exceptional leadership. “I highly urge others to get involved in community groups they care about. Giving of yourself in this way makes a person’s view of the community, and even our world, bigger. The time spent with others is special, and the chances to learn and grow are priceless.”
