Tom Elarton

For more than 20 years, the East YMCA was a second home to Tom Elarton. We lost someone special when he passed away.

A proud retired Marine and dedicated member, Tom was a familiar and welcoming presence in the YMCA community. Many remember him at the morning coffee table, where he shared stories, laughter and conversation that brought people together and brightened the start of the day.

Tom’s connection to the YMCA went far beyond daily routines. He and his wife, Pat, built lasting friendships here and were active participants in YMCA events, fundraisers and community gatherings. His commitment to showing up and supporting others reflected the heart of what the YMCA is all about — connection, service, and belonging.

His kindness, humor and willingness to listen made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. For many members and staff, Tom wasn’t just part of the YMCA community, he helped shape it.

While he will be deeply missed, his presence and the relationships he built will continue to live on in the community he loved.
