For many older adults, the YMCA is more than a place to stay active. It’s a place to feel connected, welcomed and part of a daily routine that supports both physical and emotional well-being.

Bill and Cindy Trout and Duane Broddle are three dedicated members who show up to the East YMCA almost every day. Their routines include walking the track, using the fitness equipment and spending time catching up with friends over coffee. While their activities help them stay physically active, what keeps them coming back is the sense of community they’ve built.

Bill enjoys a mix of exercise and conversation, often walking the track before spending time visiting with friends. Cindy starts her visits with a walk and enjoys reading or socializing depending on the day. Duane balances his time between walking, using equipment and connecting with others in the lobby.

Together, they highlight what many members experience at the YMCA — a place where fitness and friendship go hand in hand.
