Todd Farha
Todd Farha’s connection with the Greater Wichita YMCA came at the very beginning of his story – his uncle, William Farha, and father/Andover YMCA namesake, Dr. S. Jim Farha, were both huge believers in the Y’s mission, and their enthusiasm easily rubbed off on him growing up. And while he’s aware his personal journey is far from finished, Todd knows for certain that the Greater Wichita YMCA will be a significant part of the legacy he leaves behind for the community.
“The YMCA helps children and families, and it makes Wichita a special place. The Y is, in my opinion, one of the most important charities in Wichita, if not ‘the’ most important,” he said. “I’ve been blessed to have a long family history of engagement with the Y.”
The constant presence that the Y has had in Todd’s and his family members’ lives over the years has taught him how important it is to extend a helping hand to others. After all, who knows how different his life would be now if someone at the YMCA hadn’t stepped in to help his uncle decades ago.
“Uncle William had a great experience at the YMCA in his youth when he couldn’t afford to join,” Todd recalled. “He was welcomed inside, and it was the beginning of a 50-year history with the Y.”
Todd sees his uncle in many youth he encounters throughout the community who need a safe place to find encouragement and connection. It’s why he supports the Y’s free or reduced cost programs and services that help kids make positive life choices, and advocates for others to follow suit.
“I would tell anyone, if they care about Wichita and want a strong community with help for families and kids, the Y is the place to give.”
