Maria Keil
When the North YMCA opened its doors in 2022, Maria Keil found a new place to call home — and she hasn't looked back. What keeps her coming back isn't just the fitness classes. It's the people.
"The welcoming environment from the staff and community is unmatched," Maria says.
Whether she's in Water Tabata, Boomer Body Blitz or Chair Yoga, Maria has found friendships that extend far beyond the workout. Living without family nearby could have felt lonely, but at the YMCA, she discovered a community that became family.
Maria's love for the Y reaches far beyond attending classes. This year, she stepped into a new role as a North YMCA Advisory Board Member, bringing her passion for people and service with her. She is always thinking of new ways to celebrate our staff, strengthen our branch and create opportunities for the community to come together.
Her heart for others reflects what the YMCA is all about: welcoming everyone, building meaningful relationships and creating a place where every person belongs.
For Maria, the YMCA isn't simply where she works out. It's where she's found purpose, lifelong friendships and a family that has been by her side through every season of life.
