Camper Jack
For many kids, summer camp is a place to make friends, try new activities and create lasting memories. For Jack, it is also the headquarters of his very own newspaper.
Every other week during the camp season at Camp Hiawatha, Jack releases a newspaper report filled with camp news and updates.
Camper Jack calls himself the "go to guy for all camp related news." He takes pride in sharing stories that make other people happy. Jack said he looks forward to seeing his friends and counselors each year.
What started as something to do when he was feeling upset, has given him a unique way to express himself. His work has become something that many people look forward to, making Camp Hiawatha feel like even more of a family.
Like many campers, Jack feels sad when camp ends, but he also looks forward to going home and starting school.
When asked about future headlines he might write about himself, his imagination quickly went to work:
"Jack Saves Camp"
"YMCA Builds More Onto Camp Hiawatha"
"Hiawatha Airlines Opens"
His ideas reflect the confidence and creativity he found at summer camp.
