My journey with the Steve Clark YMCA started as a commitment to myself. I knew I needed a change — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too. The Y gave me a space where I felt comfortable starting over, no judgment, just support.

What began as a simple decision to show up turned into a life-changing journey.

Over time, that consistency helped me lose 95 pounds and gain a whole new outlook on my health and my life. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was staying consistent, especially on the days I didn’t feel motivated. I’ve also dealt with physical challenges, including a knee injury, which could have easily slowed me down or made me quit.

There were moments of doubt, frustration, and even setbacks — but I kept reminding myself why I started. This journey hasn’t been perfect, but I didn’t let that stop me. The Y has been more than just a gym for me — it’s been a support system.

Having access to equipment, a welcoming environment and a place where I could go at my own pace made all the difference. Even on tough days, just walking through those doors helped me stay accountable. The Y gave me the space to keep going, even when it wasn’t easy, and that’s a big part of how I’ve been able to succeed.
