CHILD CARE

 

    The Greater Wichita YMCA is the region's leading KDHE-licensed child care provider for kids of all ages (two-weeks to sixteen-years-old) including:

    • EARLY EDUCATION Our Early Learning Centers (ELCs) and Child Development Centers (CDCs) offer full-day care, infants - pre-schoolers
    • KEY ACADEMY Provides before- and after-school care for elementary students (grades K-5, ages 5-12) at select elementary schools in the area
    • SCHOOL DAYS OUT Are one-day programs - in elementary schools and Y branches - for any kid, ages 5-12, during scheduled school closures
    • BREAK CLUBS Are extended programs, at our Y branches, for kids during longer/week-long school closures and formal breaks
    • SUMMER CAMPS Allows kids, ages 4-16, a full summer of diverse, week-long day camps at several locations including Camp Hyde and Y branches

    We offer income-based financial assistance (for reduced-cost access to child care and camp - for those who qualify). All Greater Wichita YMCA child care programs are contracted with DCF.

    Y SCHOLARS - SUPPORTING LITERACY AND SUMMER FUN

    Early literacy can dictate a child's graduation rates, life preparedness, and overall career and earning potential. Y Scholars helps:

    • On-going reading and academic support for at-risk students
    • Social and physical activities enhance educational activities
    • Shortening the Summer Gap for selected Newton students
    • Offering FREE access for every nominated participant

    Our 2020 program ended on Thursday, July 9, 2020.

    PARENTAL SUPPORT KIDS PROGRAMS

    While not part of our licensed child care programming, the Greater Wichita YMCA - through its Community Development branch and Youth and Family staff at branch locations - offer additional support to parents who need safe, engaging, fun places for kids including:
