Teaurean Horner

Teaurean Horner has been coaching at the YMCA for over 5 years. When he first registered his son to play basketball at 6 years old, there was no one to coach the team. So Teaurean stepped up and volunteered. 

Teaurean’s most rewarding moments coaching have been watching kids who don’t know how to play basketball become much better at the sport. “What stands out to me the most is the hard work these kids put in to make themselves better. Hard work does pay off!” 

He’s also grown himself. When he first started, he had no idea of the challenges of coaching. But over time, Teaurean has put in the work, grown and seen his teams begin to compete seriously and win. 

“What keeps me coming back is the kids are happy, excited, and want to play – for me, that’s a wonderful feeling. I hope to coach as long as I can.”
