Wichita, Kansas — More than one million Americans will be coming together today on October 20 for the annual Lights On Afterschool nationwide event that recognizes the importance of afterschool programs in the lives of children, families and communities. In Wichita, we have 135,000 reasons why our community should join in the celebration.  

Wichita, Kansas — The Greater Wichita YMCA’s Job Prep program, which kicked off its 2022 classes in February, will culminate with a celebration for its 89 students on Thursday, August 4 at the Wichita Boathouse, 515 S. Wichita St. The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. and be attended by the graduates’ families, supporters and Y staff.  

Wichita, Kansas — The Greater Wichita YMCA today announced a plan to allocate the $200,000 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Workforce Development Grant received from the City of Wichita to its long-running Job Prep program. The Y was one of 14 organizations awarded ARPA Workforce Development Grants in April to aid public health and economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

WICHITA, Kan., (March 15, 2022) — For the second consecutive year, Dold Foods, the local manufacturing facility owned by Hormel Foods Corporation, (NYSE: HRL), today announced a donation of $16,000 to the Greater Wichita YMCA to provide meals for youth in the Wichita, Kan., area. The funds will be used to provide meals to participants in the YMCA Adventure Summer Camp program.

Wichita, Kansas — School is back in session and so is the Greater Wichita YMCA’s free SPLASH! program. Offered to area second graders at schools designated as low income (more than 60 percent reduced/free lunches), SPLASH! has a very specific purpose: Keep kids safe while they are in and around water.
