David Foster

David Foster

David Foster began his full-time YMCA career in 1997 and has had the opportunity to serve in a variety of leadership positions at YMCAs in Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, and Kansas. Most recently, served as the Branch Director of the Richard A. DeVore South YMCA in Wichita, Kansas.

Foster is involved in his local community having served in local Rotary Clubs, Chamber of Commerce Boards, and various other leadership capacities. He is a YPN (YMCA Professionals Network) Member and current Chapter 71 YPN Board Member. In addition, he has spoken at national YMCA conferences on a variety of topics including board/volunteer development and community partnerships. He is also a YMCA certified trainer in Volunteerism and Leading and Coaching Others.

He is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and completed coursework toward a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Oklahoma State University. He is married to Ali and they have a daughter, Audrey. In his spare time, he enjoys pickleball, golfing, exploring the outdoors, watching sports of all kinds, and spending time with his family.

Shaley Smith

Shaley Smith, Wellness Director

Shaley is a Kansas native with a master’s degree in Kinesiology and a lifelong passion for health and wellness. As a former collegiate track and field athlete and NASM Certified Personal Trainer, she believes in the power of movement to build not just physical strength, but confidence and connection. As a Personal Trainer and Wellness director she is dedicated to supporting staff, strengthening wellness programs, and creating welcoming spaces for members of all ages and abilities. She is especially passionate about helping beginners feel comfortable and capable in the weight room, ensuring that everyone who walks through the doors feels seen, supported, and encouraged.

Amanda_Gajewski

Amanda Gajewski, Youth & Family Coordinator

Amanda Gajewski started working for the Hutchinson YMCA during the summer of 2008. She has worked in all aspects of the childcare programs that have been offered over the last several years now working as the Youth and Family Coordinator.

Gajewski attended Butler Community College on a dance scholarship and even briefly taught dance at the Eldorado YMCA while there. Having a background in dance she likes to try to incorporate movement and high energy fun into the classrooms she works in.

She enjoys spending time with her son Asher both at work and outside of it. Asher enjoys coming to work almost as much as mommy does most days so he can play with his besties. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, buying yarn, arts and crafts, playing board games with friends, and dancing around the house to K-pop & Disney music.

Caitlyn Duque

Caitlyn Duque, Group Ex Coordinator

Caitlyn Duque began her YMCA journey in 2023 as an Administrative Assistant while also teaching group exercise classes. After taking water fitness classes, she fell in love with them, and with encouragement from one of the instructors, she became certified to teach aquatic fitness herself. 

Today, Caitlyn is excited to serve as the Group Exercise Coordinator and looks forward to continuing her YMCA journey in this new role. She loves helping others discover the joy of fitness and building a welcoming community for everyone. Outside of the Y, Caitlyn is married and has three wonderful kids—two boys and a girl. Her family loves staying active, and you'll usually find them cheering on or chasing their kids from one activity to the next! 

Ryan Hockenbery

Ryan Hockenberry, Senior Program Director

Ryan brings 18 years of experience in hotel management, where he developed a strong background in customer service, leadership, and building meaningful connections with people. His passion for hospitality and community engagement makes him a natural fit for helping members feel supported and connected within the YMCA community.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, watching sports, and staying active by playing basketball.

Madi_Richert

Madi Richert, Gymnastics Director

Madi Richert brings years of coaching experience and a passion for developing young athletes both in and out of the gym. With over 10 years of cheer coaching experience and a strong background in gymnastics, she is committed to creating a positive, safe and encouraging environment where athletes can build confidence, develop strong fundamentals and reach their full potential.

She is focused on providing quality instruction, building meaningful relationships with families, and creating opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to succeed. She believes gymnastics teaches much more than physical skills - It builds resilience, discipline, teamwork and confidence that extends beyond the gym.

Outside of the Y, Madi enjoys spending time with her husband and their four daughters. Whether they're traveling, cheering on their kids in all their activities, or enjoying time together, family is at the heart of everything she does.

Chris_Wietrick

Christopher Wietrick, Sports Coordinator

Christopher grew up in Hutchinson, spent a lot of his childhood in the old building's pool and gym and has been with the YMCA since 2024, starting as a Sports Supervisor. In his time at the YMCA he has also been a Membership Service Associate, Fitness Floor Associate and a personal trainer. Previous to his time with the Y, he worked in youth sports for three years. 

As Sports Coordinator, Christopher's passion is in youth skill development, sportsmanship and teamwork. He believes that youth sports is a big part of learning life lessons, building friendships and instilling confidence and positive reinforcement for every player. Christopher is also a certified official in basketball and baseball through the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending any time possible with his daughter, Alexis. Other activities he enjoys include: running his own non-profit organization, Smallville Festival Inc., playing golf, spending time outdoors and watching live sports.

Steve Barnum

Steve Barnum, Membership Director

Steve started his career with the YMCA in 2026 with the opening of the new YMCA branch. He brings a long history of customer service with multiple organizations including the Cosmosphere

Steve is a graduate of Kansas State University. He is married to Misty and has two grown children.

Steve is very excited and looks forward to growing within the YMCA and helping make are member days brighter.

Jared_Price

Jared Price, Aquatics Director

Born and raised in Wyoming, Jared found himself in the water at a very early age. As he got older, he began what ended as an above average swimming career. He swam competitively for 13 years where he earned multiple state titles and a state record in Wyoming before signing with Sterling College. In college Jared earned two, second team all KCAC awards. After finishing his swim career Jared started with us as a lifeguard in June 2025. Shortly after, he took over as the head swim coach as well. With a huge passion for aquatics and community service Jared is excited to serve as the Aquatics Director. He is most looking forward to advocating water safety through helping to provide swim lessons and the Splash program.

Darryl is a Certified Master Fitness Trainer with 25 plus years of experience, specializing in Corrective Exercise, Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition, and Senior Fitness. Every program is designed to support the individual needs and goals of each client while promoting long -term health.

As a personal trainer at the YMCA, I'm passionate about helping people transform not only their bodies, but also their confidence, strength, and overall quality of life. I understand that everyone starts their fitness journey from a different place, and I believe there is no on-size-fits-all approach.

My goal is to create a positive, supportive, and motivating environment where you can feel comfortable challenging yourself and making progress. Whether you're looking to lose weight, build muscle,  increase strength, improve your fitness, or simply feel healthier and mor confident, I'm here to help you every step of the way. I believe that fitness is a journey , not a destination. You can accomplish more than you may think possible. Skyler is a Kansas native and has been in Hutchinson since 2002. He found his passion for fitness through the sport of powerlifting in 2016 and has been competing since 2021. He has broken world, national and state records within his sport. Skyler’s goal for the Y, is to create happiness and success through strength sports for those who are willing.
