Camp Hyde Camps

The outdoors is a key component of a traditional camp experience, and Camp Hyde has 125 acres of exploration that are perfect for adventures of every kind that lead to increased confidence, character and cooperation.

One location, three camps and two special events to choose from:

  • Traditional Camp, Ages 6-16

  • Frontier Horse Camp, Ages 7-12

  • Teen Journey Camp, Ages 13-16

  • Family Camp, Ages 3+

  • Family Day, Ages 3+

Traditional Camp

Our Traditional Camp offers kids 6-12 a variety of physical, social, and educational activities that are based on a different weekly theme to keep camp fresh and exciting and to allow for more discovery throughout the summer. Kids can be themselves while enjoying: the lake, climbing tower, water slide, hiking trails, nature center, archery range, canoes and kayaks, yoga and board games, and so much more.

Available to and from Camp Hyde (weekly $30 fee applies) for Traditional, Frontier and Teen Camps. Bus drop-off locations open at 6:30 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:30 a.m. Campers must be picked up by 6 p.m. Camp meets from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

    Be sure to select your drop-off site in addition to your Camp Hyde session each week.

      • Theme: Messy Mayhem: The best part of camp is getting messy, this week the messiness is turned up to the max.  Get ready for paint wars, foam wars, giant bubbles, apple volcanoes, Color Run obstacle course. If you're not messy we did not do it right…

      • Theme: Ballin: We are cramming all your favorite sports into one week.  Add in some lesser known sports and little creativity and we will be having a ball.  Human Foosball Challenge, Building your own targets, Popcorn balls, Tree soccer, Capture the Flag and playing sports with the wrong balls...we ballin'.

    Frontier Horse Camp

    Frontier Horse Camp offers kids a modified, traditional camp experience that focuses on horses. Learn to groom, saddle, and ride based on CHA standards and demonstrate skills at our Rodeos. Kids can be themselves and also enjoy the fun of Camp Hyde including lake activities, swimming, hiking, and more. Full days include breakfast and healthy afternoon snacks. Learn benefits of riding, caring for horses from local veterinarians and shoers; ride through an obstacle course and participate in annual Rodeo Frontier Camp Rodeo on June 25 and July 23. Parents are welcome to attend.

      Frontier Overnight on June 17 and July 15 with additional $15 fee (must be enrolled in Frontier Horse Camp during the summer and in Camp Hyde for current week to attend).

      Teen Journey Camp

      Teen Camp offers older kids, 13-16, with a modified, traditional camp experience that focuses on maturity, relationships, social responsibility, and leadership. Teens enjoy camp fun, age-appropriate games, activities, field trips, and educational experiences. Teens can be themselves and also enjoy the fun of Camp Hyde including lake activities, swimming, hiking, and more. Full days include breakfast and healthy afternoon snacks. And at no additional fee, enjoy additional add-ons that develop leadership skills and allow more responsibility at camp. Field trips offered on weeks 2, 4, 6, 9.

        COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING (CIT), June 7-July 30

        For campers wanting more responsibility and to nurture leadership and other skills, we offer Counselor-In-Training add-ons to teen camp for 

        • For campers ages 15 and 16 only.
        • A counselor in training program for 15 to 16-year-olds who have an interest in being future camp counselors. Counselors in training or CIT will be assigned to a group of children and assist counselors with activities and events throughout the day. CITs will meet weekly with the camp director to review techniques used with campers and assign task to complete in order to continue their education as a counselor in training
        LEADER-IN-TRAINING (LIT), JUNE 7-JULY 30
        • For TEEN CAMPERS ages 13-15
        WRANGLER-IN-TRAINING (WIT), JUNE 1-JULY 30

        We also offer Teen Campers the opportunity to help support the staff and showcase their horse skills. To qualify for our WIT program, campers must:

        • Have three-or-more years of Frontier Horse Camp (or similar camp) experience
        • Showcase mastery of LEVELS 1-3 (Filly, Colt, and Stallion) of HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT 
        • Achieve HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT LEVEL 4 (Ranch Hand) including:
          • DEMONSTRATE posting trot, proper leg wrapping and knowledge of reasons for wrapping, horse saddling/bridling, ride 7x7x7 (sit trot, post trot, standing trot), controlled canter
          • IDENTIFY 20 horse parts, Face Markings, All Hoof Parts, All Camp Hyde horses by name
          • TELL Proper feeds, food storage, and horse feeding
          • SKILLS Chores and assisting with arena and grounds lessons for Frontier Horse Campers, trail ride support, horse first aid, Rodeo support

        Special Events

        Our Family Camp offers parents/guardians and their children two programs to enjoy as a family. Both offer a variety of physical, social, and educational activities that use all the areas and resources of the camp to provide fun for all. One program is a DAY PROGRAM and one is an OVERNIGHT PROGRAM. Enjoying a lake, climbing tower, water slide, hiking trails, a nature center, archery range, canoes and kayaks, yoga, bikes, sports equipment, and board games, and so much more.

        Family Overnight Camp

        Family Camp will be June 25-26, 7 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday with additional $50 fee per family.

        IGNITE!

        IGNITE is what we call our morning meetings and announcements held daily, it is a great celebration of friendship and togetherness to kick off the day!

        Morning CLUBS

        Include a variety of counselor-led fun where kids choose their activity, which include team sports, chess club, arts and crafts and other theme-related games.

        Camp Hyde Activities

        Archery, fishing, climbing tower, canoeing, arts and crafts, STEM, nature walks, mountain biking, horses, swimming, sports and fitness. Activities begin around 10:30 a.m. and extend throughout the afternoon. Campers rotate through four activities each day, including swimming.
