Traditional Camp
Our Traditional Camp offers kids 6-12 a variety of physical, social, and educational activities that are based on a different weekly theme to keep camp fresh and exciting and to allow for more discovery throughout the summer. Kids can be themselves while enjoying: the lake, climbing tower, water slide, hiking trails, nature center, archery range, canoes and kayaks, yoga and board games, and so much more.

Traditional Camp is located at Camp Hyde, 26201 West 71st Street South, Viola, Kansas.
- Traditional Camp Weekly Fees:
- $165 member; $185 non-member; $20 deposit
- Frontier Horse Camp Weekly Fees:
- ($215 member; $235 non-member; $70 deposit)

Bus Transportation: an additional $30 weekly fee
Available to and from Camp Hyde (weekly $30 fee applies). Bus drop-off locations open at 7:00 a.m. and depart promptly at 8:30 a.m. Buses depart camp at 3:30 p.m. and return to bus stop at 4:30 p.m. Campers must be picked up by 6 p.m.
Be sure to select your drop-off site in addition to your Camp Hyde session each week.

Frontier Horse Camp
Ages 7-12
Learn the basic or riding and grooming! Our Frontier camp has a progressive approach to build skills and confidence in riding. In addition to learning how to care for horses campers will have daily trail rides and/or time to practice riding skills on the obstacle course. Check the parent planner for Camp Rodeo days, twice each summer campers have a change to show off what they learned!

Weekly Fee: $215 member; $235 non-member; $70 deposit

- DEMONSTRATE proper approach, lead, mount, dismount, stirrup stand at the walk
- IDENTIFY 5 horse parts, 5 grooming tools and their use, 3 bridle parts, 3 saddle parts
- TELL 3 horse safety rules, 2 horse gaits, your favorite horse moment
- HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT (LEVEL 2, COLT)
- MASTER Level 1 (Filly) requirements
- DEMONSTRATE proper horse grooming, proper horse safety
- IDENTIFY 10 horse parts, 5 horse breeds and proper uses
- TELL 6 horse safety rules, 4 horse gaits, your favorite horse moment
- SKILLS safety knots and manure cleaning
- HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT (LEVEL 3, STALLION)
- MASTER Levels 1 and 2 (Filly and Colt) requirements
- DEMONSTRATE tack a horse, sitting trot
- IDENTIFY 15 horse parts, 5 horse colors with examples and descriptions, 6 bridle parts, 10 saddle parts
- SKILLS water trough, barn chores

Frontier Overnight with an additional $20 fee (must be enrolled in Frontier Horse Camp during the summer and in Camp Hyde for current week to attend).

Teen Camp
Ages 13-14
Teens develop confidence and self awareness while building friendships and learning to be a role model for our younger campers! Do you have a teen that is experienced with horses? They might be perfect for our Wranglers In Training program (WIT). Side by side with our Camp Wranglers they help with Frontier camp in the morning and participate in teen camp activities each afternoon. All teens must be registered in teen camp, WIT program is a free ADD on!

Add-Ons
We also offer Teen Campers the opportunity to help support the staff and showcase their horse skills. To qualify for our WIT program, campers must:
- Have three-or-more years of Frontier Horse Camp (or similar camp) experience
- Showcase mastery of LEVELS 1-3 (Filly, Colt, and Stallion) of HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT
- Achieve HORSE CAMP DEVELOPMENT LEVEL 4 (Ranch Hand) including:
- DEMONSTRATE posting trot, proper leg wrapping and knowledge of reasons for wrapping, horse saddling/bridling, ride 7x7x7 (sit trot, post trot, standing trot), controlled canter
- IDENTIFY 20 horse parts, Face Markings, All Hoof Parts, All Camp Hyde horses by name
- TELL Proper feeds, food storage, and horse feeding
- SKILLS Chores and assisting with arena and grounds lessons for Frontier Horse Campers, trail ride support, horse first aid, Rodeo support
Special Events
Our Family Camp offers parents/guardians and their children two programs to enjoy as a family. Both offer a variety of physical, social, and educational activities that use all the areas and resources of the camp to provide fun for all. One program is a DAY PROGRAM and one is an OVERNIGHT PROGRAM. Enjoying a lake, climbing tower, water slide, hiking trails, a nature center, archery range, canoes and kayaks, yoga, bikes, sports equipment, board games, and so much more.

- Swimsuits and towels and fishing equipment optional. Bug spray, sunscreen, and reusable water bottles suggested.
IGNITE!
IGNITE is what we call our morning meetings and announcements held daily, it is a great celebration of friendship and togetherness to kick off the day!
Morning CLUBS
Include a variety of counselor-led fun where kids choose their activity, which include team sports, chess club, arts and crafts and other theme-related games.
Camp Hyde Activities
Archery, water slide, fishing, climbing tower, canoeing, arts and crafts, STEM, nature walks, mountain biking, horses, swimming, sports and fitness. Activities begin around 10:30 a.m. and extend throughout the afternoon. Campers rotate through four activities each day, including swimming.
